Chart a pathway to an academic career

Developed by expert faculty, Michigan Engineering’s annual NextProf workshops are leading a nationwide effort to strengthen the next generation of academic leaders. NextProf Engineering is an in-person event open to all Michigan Engineering PhD students and postdocs curious about the academic career path. 

Participants will hear personal insights from U-M faculty, learn about diverse career paths in academia, and strengthen their professional networks.

The NextProf Engineering workshop is open to current Michigan Engineering PhD students (all years) and postdocs.

What to Expect

NextProf Engineering is an opportunity for Michigan Engineering students and postdocs from all backgrounds to hear real stories from engineering faculty and informally network with peers and mentors.

Speakers include faculty, research professors, and lecturers from Michigan Engineering.

Note: The Nextprof Engineering Workshop is exclusive to University of Michigan applicants: PhD engineering students (all years) and postdocs. Senior-level PhD candidates and postdoctoral researchers may also apply to NextProf Nexus.

1st- and 2nd-year PhD students and Master’s students interested in applying to PhD programs may also apply to NextProf Pathfinder.
